- Full report support on your approved synopsis, original and plagiarism-checked
- Help with revisions until your result is declared
MGSP-001 is the first of the two field-based courses of the IGNOU MA Gender and Development Studies (MAGD) programme. IGNOU’s programme page lists it as Internship-I / Field based Research Project-I, a 4-credit course in Year 1, and it lists the second one, Internship-II / Field based Research Project-II, also at 4 credits. The page also says that the whole weightage goes to the submitted report. You can read about the second course in our MGSP-002 guide. The work normally runs in two parts: a plan that is approved first, and then a report based on it.

Who can be your MGSP-001 guide?
The guide conditions, such as qualification, experience and whether a bio-data is needed, are set in your programme guideline. Please read that section before you approach anyone, because a guide who does not meet the conditions is a common reason for a proposal to be returned. HelpBooks can check a guide’s eligibility against the guideline before you submit.
Choosing an MGSP-001 topic
“Women empowerment in India”
“Participation of women in self-help groups and its effect on household decision-making in one block of your district”
A good MGSP-001 topic is narrow, linked to gender and development, and possible for you to study in the field with the time and contacts you have. Some areas that work well:
- Livelihoods: women’s work in agriculture, home-based work or small enterprise
- Self-help groups: savings, credit and decision-making in women’s groups
- Financial inclusion: women’s use of bank accounts, digital payments and credit
- Workplace and leadership: women’s participation in local bodies, organisations or leadership roles
- Programme study: how a government or NGO scheme for women or girls works in one area
If you are working, a topic linked to your own organisation or area makes fieldwork far easier. This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics.
MGSP-001 synopsis format
Use the headings and the proforma given in your MGSP-001 guideline. IGNOU project synopses generally cover the title, introduction, objectives, methodology and tools, and the scope of the work, signed by you and your guide. HelpBooks drafts your synopsis in the format your guideline asks for and checks the proforma line by line.
MGSP-001 report structure
After approval, the report is built on the same topic, objectives and field area that were approved. Reports usually include an introduction, objectives, methodology, field findings with their interpretation, conclusions, references and annexures such as the questionnaire. Your guideline gives the exact chapter scheme, length and binding. Attach the approved synopsis and the certificate or declaration the guideline names, and keep a copy of everything you send.
HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved synopsis into a complete MGSP-001 report with your own field data, proper tables and interpretation, and a final annexure check before you send it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552
Why MGSP-001 proposals and reports come back
- Proforma not signed or dated by you or the guide
- Guide outside the eligibility conditions
- Topic too wide, or objectives that the methodology cannot answer
- Report that changes the topic or field area from the approved synopsis
- Approved synopsis or originality certificate missing from the report
- Copied literature review or theory
If your synopsis is not approved: read the comments, revise the synopsis and resubmit it with a fresh proforma as your guideline directs. Our mentors can rework a returned synopsis using the evaluator’s comments.
How HelpBooks mentors MAGD learners
Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, their synopsis has come back once, or they have finished fieldwork but do not know how to turn it into a full report. Our mentors stay with you through the whole MGSP-001 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:
- 5–6 workable topic options based on your job, organisation and area, to discuss with your guide
- Synopsis drafted with you to the MGSP-001 format, with the proforma checked line by line before you submit it
- Help with revisions if the evaluator returns your synopsis
- After approval, support in building the full report on your approved synopsis, with original writing, your own field data and a plagiarism check
- A final check of the annexures, certificate and envelope before you send it
- Support until your result is declared, including any changes the evaluator asks for
