MFLP-006 is the first-year project work course of the IGNOU M.A. French (MAFL) programme. The second-year course is MFLP-011, the dissertation. We could not find a public IGNOU guideline for MFLP-006 with its credit value, length and language, so this page gives the general process and leaves those details to your programme guideline. For the dissertation, see our MFLP-011 guide.

Who can be your MFLP-006 guide?

The guide conditions are set in your programme guideline. Please read that section before you approach anyone, because a guide who does not meet the conditions is a common reason for a proposal to be returned. HelpBooks can check a guide’s eligibility against the guideline before you submit.

Choosing an MFLP-006 topic

Too broad
“French literature”
Approvable
“Themes of absurdity and alienation in Albert Camus’s novel L’Étranger”

A good topic is narrow, tied to a text or theme you can read in French with comfort, and possible to finish in the time you have. The areas IGNOU allows for the MFLP-011 dissertation are a useful guide for the kinds of topics French studies accepts:

  • Literature: a novel, play or poetry collection, its themes and style
  • Language and linguistics: a point of French grammar or usage
  • Translation: a short translated text and the choices made in it
  • Teaching French: methods and tools for learners of French
  • Culture and area studies: French history, Francophonie, French arts and cinema, Indo-French travel studies

This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics.

MFLP-006 synopsis format

Use the headings and any proforma given in your programme guideline. A synopsis normally gives the title, the aim and questions of the study, the texts or sources, the method of analysis and a plan of the work. HelpBooks drafts it with you and checks it before you take it for approval.

MFLP-006 report structure

After approval, the report is built on the same topic and plan that were approved. It normally includes an introduction, chapters of analysis, a conclusion, a bibliography and any annexures. Your guideline gives the exact length, language and binding. Attach the approved synopsis and anything else the guideline names, and keep a copy of everything you send.

Why MFLP-006 proposals and reports come back

  • Topic too wide, or outside French studies
  • Writing started before the synopsis was approved
  • Report that changes the topic or plan from the approved synopsis
  • Approved synopsis or declaration missing from the report
  • Length or language not as the guideline asks
  • Copied analysis or text taken from other writers

If your synopsis is not approved: read the comments, revise the topic or plan, and take it for approval again. Our mentors can rework a returned synopsis using those comments.

How HelpBooks mentors MA French learners

Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, their synopsis needs changes, or they have approval but are unsure how to build the full report. Our mentors stay with you through the whole MFLP-006 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:

  • 5–6 workable topic options based on your texts and interests, to discuss with your Coordinator or Counsellor
  • Synopsis drafted with you and checked before approval
  • Help with revisions if changes are asked
  • After approval, support in building the full report, with original writing, correct citation of your texts and a plagiarism check
  • A final check of length, format and attachments before you submit
  • Support until your result is declared
