IGNOU MSCFSQM Dissertation (MVPP-002): Guidelines, Synopsis Format, Guide Eligibility and Submission

MVPP-002 is the dissertation course of the IGNOU M.Sc in Food Safety and Quality Management (MSCFSQM). It is a 16-credit course placed in the second year. IGNOU describes it as training in investigating emerging food safety and quality management issues, critically analysing a research problem and writing a research report. The work usually runs in two parts: a synopsis that is approved first, and then the dissertation based on that approved synopsis.

Who can be your MVPP-002 guide?

The guide eligibility for this dissertation is set in the official project guideline, and we have not quoted it here because it may change. In IGNOU projects the guide is normally a qualified academic or an experienced professional in the subject, and the guide’s signed bio-data goes with the synopsis. Choosing an MSCFSQM dissertation topic

A good MVPP-002 topic is narrow, linked to a current food safety or quality problem, and answerable with data or samples you can actually get. Areas that work well:

MVPP-002 synopsis format

The exact synopsis headings and the proforma are given in the project guideline, so follow that document. A dissertation synopsis in IGNOU normally covers these points:

• Title and introduction to the problem
• Rationale and objectives
• Review of literature
• Research methodology: study area, sample, tools and analysis methods
• Expected outcomes and limitations

The proforma and the guide’s details must be filled and signed as the guideline asks. Do not start the full dissertation before the synopsis is approved.

MVPP-002 dissertation structure

After approval, the dissertation is built on the same topic, objectives, sample and study area. A usual chapter plan is:

• Introduction
• Review of literature
• Research methodology
• Data analysis and discussion, with each table or chart followed by its interpretation
• Findings, conclusion and suggestions
• References and annexures such as the questionnaire

Check your guideline for the required page length, referencing style and the documents to bind in, which usually include the approved synopsis and an originality certificate.

Why MVPP-002 proposals and reports come back
