Who can approve or guide your MSLP-009 project?

The people who approve the title and synopsis, and any guide qualifications, are set in your MASL project guideline, so check it before you start. For language projects at IGNOU this is usually the subject faculty or the academic counsellors of the language, but follow what your own guideline says. HelpBooks can check your topic and synopsis against the guideline before you submit.

Choosing an MSLP-009 topic

Too broad
“Spanish literature”
Approvable
“The theme of memory in one short story by a single Spanish-language author”

A good language project is narrow, uses texts or materials you can read, and can be finished in the length allowed. Some areas that work well:

  • Literature: one author, one novel or a few poems studied for theme, character or style
  • Translation: a short Spanish text translated into English or Hindi, with notes on your choices
  • Linguistics: a focused point of grammar, vocabulary or common errors of Indian learners
  • Culture and society: a festival, cinema, music or art form of the Spanish-speaking world
  • Language learning: challenges and methods of learning Spanish in India

A topic with enough accessible books and articles is easier to finish than one with almost no sources. This is the first thing our mentors check when they suggest topics.

MSLP-009 synopsis format

Follow the proforma and sections in your MASL project guideline. A language project synopsis usually covers:

  • Title and the exact topic chosen
  • Aim of the study and why it matters
  • Primary texts and secondary sources
  • Plan of chapters or sections
  • References

The proforma, signatures and any approval details asked for in the guideline go along with the synopsis. Keep a copy of everything you post.

MSLP-009 project structure

After approval, the project follows the topic and plan that were approved. It normally covers:

  • Introduction to the topic
  • Main discussion in short headed sections, or the translation with its commentary
  • Findings or conclusion drawn from the discussion
  • List of all sources consulted

The final copy must also include the cover page, approved synopsis and the other items listed in your guideline. Write in your own words; text copied from books or websites is a common reason for rejection.

Why MSLP-009 proposals and projects come back

  • Title and synopsis not approved before the work was written
  • Topic too wide for the length allowed
  • Work longer or shorter than the limit in the guideline
  • Text copied from books or websites
  • Approved synopsis, fee receipt or other required document missing
  • No list of sources
  • Project sent to the wrong address

If your synopsis or project is returned: follow the instructions given by the evaluator or your Regional Centre and resubmit within the allowed time. Our mentors can rework a returned synopsis using the comments you received.

How HelpBooks mentors MA Spanish learners

Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, they are unsure how to structure the project, or no one has checked their documents. Our mentors stay with you through the whole MSLP-009 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:

  • 5–6 workable topic options based on the sources available to you, to discuss with your counsellor
  • Synopsis drafted with you in the format of your guideline, with the proforma checked line by line before you post it
  • Help with revisions if your topic or synopsis is not approved
  • After approval, support in writing the project in your own words, with a plagiarism check
  • A final check of the source list, documents and envelope before you send it
  • Support until your result is declared, including any changes asked for

Common questions

Which language should the project be written in?
Check your MSLP-009 guideline. It states the language of the project.

Can I choose any topic?
Choose a topic within Spanish studies and get the title and synopsis approved as your guideline says before you write the project.

Where do I find the credits, word limit and dates?
In your MASL programme guide and the latest project guideline on ignou.ac.in, or from your Regional Centre.

Can HelpBooks help if I have already started?
Yes. Many learners come to us with a half-written project or a returned synopsis. Share what you have, and we pick up from that stage.
