MNMP-101 project? HelpBooks will guide you from topic to marks
Our project mentors have worked with journalism and media learners on proposals and reports. You get one team that stays with you through every stage:
- Topic options in electronic media, based on your work, interests and city
- Proposal drafted with you, with every form in your project manual checked before submission
- Full report support on your approved proposal, original and plagiarism-checked
- Help with revisions until your result is declared
MNMP-101 is the Project Work (Electronic Media) of the IGNOU MA in Journalism and Electronic Media, MAJEM. It is a compulsory 8-credit item in the second year of the programme. The detailed rules sit in a separate project manual, which IGNOU makes available only in digital form on eGyanKosh, so this page explains the stages in simple terms and points out what you must confirm in your own manual.
Check this first: the MAJEM programme guide lists the project as MNMP-101 in the Year II table, but uses the code MNMP-001 in the detailed section. Confirm the correct code with your programme coordinator and use that code on every form and envelope.

Who can be your MNMP-101 guide?
The programme guide does not give guide eligibility, and the project manual is where those conditions are written. Read that section first, then send us your guide’s qualification and experience details and we will check them against it before you submit anything. Do not start work with a guide until you have confirmed the eligibility rule in writing from the manual or your coordinator.
Choosing an MAJEM project topic
“Role of television in India”
“Coverage of flood relief in prime-time news bulletins of two Assamese news channels”
A good MNMP-101 topic is narrow, relates to electronic media (television, radio or online video), and uses material or people you can reach. Some areas that work well:
- News content: how news channels cover an event or issue in your region
- Radio: community or FM radio programmes and listener response in your area
- Audience studies: viewing habits of a defined group for a channel or OTT platform
- Media and society: portrayal of a group or issue in television programmes
- Production-based work: if your manual allows a production project, a documentary or radio feature with a written report
If you work in a channel, radio station or production house, a topic linked to your own workplace makes access to material easier.
Proposal format and report structure
The programme guide does not reproduce the proposal format, report length or chapter scheme. Follow the proforma, contents and layout in your project manual. A media research proposal normally covers:
- Title and background of the problem
- Objectives and research questions or hypotheses
- Methodology: method, sample or material studied, tools
- Expected outcomes and a plan of work
A report built on it normally runs through introduction, review of literature, methodology, findings and discussion, summary and conclusion, and references with appendices. Keep the topic, objectives and sample exactly as approved. Check the manual for the certificates, declaration and approval sheet to bind in.
HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved proposal into a complete MNMP-101 report with proper analysis and interpretation, and a final annexure check before you submit it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552
Why MNMP-101 proposals and reports come back
- Wrong course code used on forms or envelope
- Guide who does not meet the eligibility rule in the manual
- Proforma or declaration not signed and dated
- Topic too wide, or not linked to electronic media
- Objectives that the methodology cannot answer
- Report that changes the topic, sample or scope from the approved proposal
- Certificates or approval sheet missing from the report
- Copied text or analysis
If your proposal is returned: revise it to include every comment and submit again as the manual directs. Our mentors can rework a returned proposal using the evaluator’s comments.
How HelpBooks mentors MAJEM learners
Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, they are unsure what the digital-only manual expects, or they have approval but do not know how to turn material into a full report. Our mentors stay with you from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:
- 5–6 workable topic options based on your work, interests and city, to discuss with your guide
- Proposal drafted with you, with the proforma and guide details checked line by line before you submit it
- Help with revisions if your proposal is returned
- After approval, support in building the full report, with original writing, your own material and a plagiarism check
- A final check of certificates, binding or file format, and the submission address before you send it
- Support until your result is declared, including any changes asked for

Common questions
Is MNMP-101 compulsory?
Yes. The programme guide lists it as a fixed 8-credit item in Year II, not as one of the choose-one options.
Where do I get the project manual?
IGNOU says it is available only in digital form on eGyanKosh.
Is the code MNMP-101 or MNMP-001?
The programme guide uses both. Confirm with your programme coordinator and use the confirmed code everywhere.
Is there a viva?
The programme guide does not say. Check your project manual, and know your own report well either way.
Can HelpBooks help if I have already started?
Yes. Many learners come to us after a returned proposal or with approval in hand. Share what you have, and we pick up from that stage.
HelpBooks is an independent academic support service and is not affiliated with IGNOU. Rules on this page are summarised from the MAJEM programme guide; always follow the latest official guideline and your guide’s instructions.
