MMPNP-001 is the project course attached to the IGNOU MBA (Construction Management) programme, MBACN. IGNOU lists the programme with a duration of 24 to 48 months, and its programme page mentions an 8-credit project in the third semester. The project is done in two parts: a synopsis (project proposal) that is approved first, and then a project report built on that approved synopsis.
Check this first: the IGNOU programme page we checked does not print the project course code. The published guideline we could verify is the MBA project guideline, MMPP-001, issued by the School of Management Studies. The process below follows that guideline, so treat it as the standard MBA route and confirm with your Regional Centre or programme coordinator that the same steps apply to your MMPNP-001 project.

Who can be your guide?
Your MMPNP-001 project guide states who may supervise your work. Under the MBA project guideline, the guide can be IGNOU management faculty, an approved management counsellor, a management teacher with 5 years of postgraduate teaching, or a professional with a Master’s in management or an allied field and at least 5 years of experience in the relevant area. A guide may supervise at most five students at a time and should guide only within their own specialisation. If your guide is not an IGNOU counsellor, the signed bio-data goes with the synopsis. Share your guide’s details with us and we will check them against the rule before you post anything.
Choosing an MBACN project topic
“A study of the construction industry in India”
“Causes of cost overrun in residential building projects of mid-sized contractors in Nagpur”
A good topic is narrow, tied to construction management, and possible for you to study with the access you have. Some areas that work well:
- Cost and time control: reasons for delay or cost overrun in building projects of one contractor or city
- Site supervision and quality: quality control practices on residential or commercial sites
- Safety on site: safety practices and awareness among construction workers
- Materials and equipment: material procurement, wastage or equipment maintenance practices
- Workforce and contracting: labour availability, subcontractor management or customer satisfaction in housing projects
If you work for a contractor, developer or consultancy, a topic from your own organisation makes data collection much easier.
Synopsis format
The MBA project guideline asks for these parts in the synopsis:
- Introduction (background of the subject)
- Rationale for choosing the topic
- Objectives, specific and measurable, without assuming the findings
- Research methodology: design, nature and source of data, sample and sampling technique, tools such as a questionnaire, data collection, and statistical tools linked to each objective
- Limitations of the study
Attach the signed and dated proforma and the guide’s bio-data where required. Follow the proforma issued with your own project guide.
Report structure
After approval, the report keeps the same topic, objectives, sample and location. The MBA guideline suggests this order:
- Introduction, literature review and organisation details
- Research methodology
- Results and discussion, with each table or graph followed by its interpretation
- Summary and conclusion
- Recommendations
- Limitations and scope for further research
- References
- Annexures such as the questionnaire
Bind the approved proposal into the report and add the Certificate of Originality signed by you and your guide. Reports sent without these are returned for compliance.
HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved synopsis into a complete MMPNP-001 report with your own study data, proper tables and interpretation, and a final annexure check before you post it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552
Why MMPNP-001 proposals and reports come back
- Proforma or bio-data not signed and dated by you and your guide
- Guide who does not meet the eligibility rule, or who is already guiding five students
- Topic too wide, or not linked to your programme
- Objectives that the methodology cannot answer
- Report that changes the topic, sample or study area from the approved synopsis
- Approved proposal or originality certificate missing from the bound report
- Copied literature review or theory
If your synopsis is not approved: under the MBA guideline you send a revised proposal with a fresh proforma, a copy of the rejected proposal with the evaluator’s comments, and your proposal number. Our mentors can rework a returned synopsis using the evaluator’s comments.
How HelpBooks mentors MBACN learners
Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, their synopsis has come back once, or they have approval but do not know how to turn data into a full report. Our mentors stay with you from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:
- 5–6 workable topic options in construction management, based on your job, site or organisation and city
- Synopsis drafted with you, with the proforma and guide papers checked line by line before you post it
- Help with revisions if the evaluator returns your synopsis
- After approval, support in building the full report on your approved synopsis, with original writing, your own study data and a plagiarism check
- A final check of the annexures, certificate and envelope before submission
- Support until your result is declared, including any changes the evaluator asks for

Common questions
Is the project compulsory for MBACN?
Yes, the IGNOU programme page mentions an 8-credit project in the third semester.
Can I choose a guide from my workplace?
Usually yes, if the person meets the experience rule in your project guide. Send us the details and we will check.
Which guideline do I follow, MMPP-001 or MMPNP-001?
Follow the project guide issued for your programme. If it is silent on a point, ask your Regional Centre. The MBA guideline above is the closest published reference.
Is there a viva?
Under the MBA guideline a viva can be held if the evaluator recommends it. Know your own report well either way.
Can HelpBooks help if I have already started?
Yes. Many learners come to us after a returned synopsis or with approval in hand. Share what you have, and we pick up from that stage.
