MLIP-008 project? HelpBooks will guide you from topic to marks
Our project mentors have worked with library science learners on PGDLAN proposals and reports. You get one team that stays with you through every stage:
- Topic options based on your library, job and city
- Proposal drafted with you, proforma and guide bio-data checked before posting
- Full report support on the approved proposal, original and plagiarism-checked
- Help with revisions until your result is declared
MLIP-008 is the project work (dissertation) of the IGNOU Post Graduate Diploma in Library Automation and Networking, PGDLAN. It counts as a full course of 4 credits. IGNOU describes it as a chance to build practical skills in the areas you have studied, not as a major research project. The work runs in two parts: a proposal that is approved first, and then a bound project report.

Who can be your MLIP-008 guide?
One guide can supervise a maximum of 6 candidates at a time. The guide’s signed bio-data goes with your proposal. A guide who does not meet these conditions is a common reason for a proposal being sent back.
Choosing a PGDLAN project topic
“Library automation in India”
“Automation of circulation and cataloguing in a college library in Nashik: status and user satisfaction”
Because MLIP-008 is meant to build practical skill, pick a topic you can work on in a real library or institution. Some areas that work well:
- Library automation: status of automation, use of library management software in a school, college or university library
- Networking and resource sharing: library networks, consortia and their use in your region
- Digital library and repositories: setting up or studying an institutional repository or digital collection
- User studies: use and satisfaction with electronic resources or OPAC
- Staff skills: ICT skills and training needs of library staff in your city
If you work in a library, a topic from your own library makes the work far easier. This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics.
MLIP-008 proposal format
The PGDLAN programme guide does not list fixed sections for the proposal. It asks that the topic be chosen with your guide, that the guide’s signed bio-data be attached, and that the proposal go to the Programme Coordinator for approval. A sound proposal normally covers:
- Title and background of the problem
- Objectives and scope
- Methodology: where and how the work will be done, data or tools used
- Expected outcome and a short plan of work
Use the proforma and instructions given in your project guide, and ask us to check the draft against them.
MLIP-008 project report structure
The programme guide gives a 14-part structure running from the title page to the appendices. Check the exact list in your project guide. The report must be:
- Typed double-spaced on A4 paper
- Submitted in bound form
- Accompanied by a certificate from your guide
- Built on the approved proposal, with the same topic and objectives
HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved proposal into a complete MLIP-008 report with your own library data, proper tables and interpretation, and a final check of the certificate and binding before you post it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552
Why MLIP-008 proposals and reports come back
- Guide outside the eligibility conditions, or already guiding the maximum number of candidates
- Guide’s signed bio-data missing from the proposal
- Topic too wide or not linked to library automation and networking
- Work started before the proposal was approved
- Report that changes the topic or scope from the approved proposal
- Guide’s certificate missing, or report not bound
- Copied text or theory
- Not registering for the term-end exam in which the project is to be evaluated
If your proposal is returned: revise it using the comments and send it again to the Programme Coordinator. Our mentors can rework a returned proposal using the evaluator’s comments.
How HelpBooks mentors PGDLAN learners
Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, their proposal has come back once, or they have approval but do not know how to turn their work into a proper report. Our mentors stay with you from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:
- 5–6 workable topic options based on your library, job and city, to discuss with your guide
- Proposal drafted with you, with the proforma and guide bio-data checked line by line before you post it
- Help with revisions if your proposal is returned
- After approval, support in building the full report on your approved proposal, with original writing, your own data and a plagiarism check
- A final check of the certificate, binding and envelope before you submit
- Support until your result is declared, including any changes asked for
