MGPE-017 is the project work course of the IGNOU MA Gandhi and Peace Studies programme (MGPS). IGNOU’s Gandhi and Peace Studies programme page lists it as an 8-credit project work course in Year 2, and it is the only non-theory course in the list. As with other IGNOU projects, the work normally runs in two parts: a synopsis that is approved first, and then a project report based on it.

Who can be your MGPE-017 guide?
The guide conditions, such as qualification, experience and whether a bio-data is needed, are set in your programme guideline. Please read that section before you approach anyone, because a guide who does not meet the conditions is a common reason for a proposal to be returned. HelpBooks can check a guide’s eligibility against the guideline before you submit.
Choosing an MGPE-017 topic
“Gandhi and peace”
“Relevance of Gandhi’s idea of village self-reliance for livelihood groups in one block of your district”
A good MGPE-017 topic is narrow, linked to Gandhian thought or peace and conflict studies, and possible for you to study with the time and contacts you have. Some areas that work well:
- Gandhian thought in practice: constructive work, khadi, village industries or sarvodaya in a locality
- Ecology and sustainability: Gandhian ideas applied to local resource use or simple living
- Women and peace: women’s role in community peace or conflict resolution
- Human rights: awareness or protection of rights in a community or institution
- Conflict and peace education: a local dispute or a school peace programme and how it was handled
If you are working, a topic linked to your own organisation or city makes data collection far easier. This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics.
MGPE-017 synopsis format
Use the headings and the proforma given in your MGPE-017 guideline. IGNOU project synopses generally cover the title, introduction, objectives, methodology and sources, and the scope of the work, signed by you and your guide. HelpBooks drafts your synopsis in the format your guideline asks for and checks the proforma line by line.
MGPE-017 report structure
After approval, the report is built on the same topic, objectives and study area that were approved. Reports usually include an introduction, objectives, methodology, analysis of texts or field data, conclusions, references and annexures. Your guideline gives the exact chapter scheme, length and binding. Attach the approved synopsis and the certificate or declaration the guideline names, and keep a copy of everything you send.
HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved synopsis into a complete MGPE-017 report with your own sources and data, proper analysis, and a final annexure check before you send it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552
Why MGPE-017 proposals and reports come back
- Proforma not signed or dated by you or the guide
- Guide outside the eligibility conditions
- Topic too wide, or objectives that the methodology cannot answer
- Report that changes the topic or study area from the approved synopsis
- Approved synopsis or originality certificate missing from the report
- Copied literature review or quotations without credit
If your synopsis is not approved: read the comments, revise the synopsis and resubmit it with a fresh proforma as your guideline directs. Our mentors can rework a returned synopsis using the evaluator’s comments.
How HelpBooks mentors MGPS learners
Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, their synopsis has come back once, or they have approval but do not know how to turn material into a full report. Our mentors stay with you through the whole MGPE-017 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:
- 5–6 workable topic options based on your job, organisation and city, to discuss with your guide
- Synopsis drafted with you to the MGPE-017 format, with the proforma checked line by line before you submit it
- Help with revisions if the evaluator returns your synopsis
- After approval, support in building the full report on your approved synopsis, with original writing, your own study data and a plagiarism check
- A final check of the annexures, certificate and envelope before you send it
- Support until your result is declared, including any changes the evaluator asks for
