MFCP-005 is the project course of the IGNOU MA Folklore and Culture Studies (MAFCS) programme. IGNOU’s programme page lists it as Project Manual, an 8-credit course placed in Year 1. As with other IGNOU projects, the work normally runs in two parts: a synopsis that is approved first, and then a project report based on it.

Who can be your MFCP-005 guide?
The guide conditions, such as qualification, experience and whether a bio-data is needed, are set in your programme guideline. Please read that section before you approach anyone, because a guide who does not meet the conditions is a common reason for a proposal to be returned. HelpBooks can check a guide’s eligibility against the guideline before you submit.
Choosing an MFCP-005 topic
“Folk culture of India”
“Oral narratives and festival songs of one tribal community in one block: documentation and meaning”
A good folklore project is narrow, rooted in one community or place, and possible for you to document with the contacts you have. The programme studies tradition, identity and the tribes of India, so these angles suit it well. Some areas that work well:
- Folk songs and oral narratives: tales, legends, proverbs and songs of one community
- Festivals and rituals: how a local festival is celebrated and how it is changing
- Tribal identity and lore: the stories and customs through which a community describes itself
- Folk arts and crafts: a craft, its makers and its place in local identity
- Performance traditions: a local theatre, dance or storytelling form and its performers
A topic from your own region, language or community makes fieldwork far easier. This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics.
MFCP-005 synopsis format
Use the headings and the proforma given in your MFCP-005 guideline. IGNOU project synopses generally cover the title, introduction, objectives, methodology and tools, and the scope of the work, signed by you and your guide. HelpBooks drafts your synopsis in the format your guideline asks for and checks the proforma line by line.
MFCP-005 report structure
After approval, the report is built on the same topic, objectives and fieldwork area that were approved. Reports usually include an introduction, objectives, methodology, the collected material with its analysis, conclusions, references and annexures such as interview lists or transcripts. Your guideline gives the exact chapter scheme, length and binding. Attach the approved synopsis and the certificate or declaration the guideline names, and keep a copy of everything you send.
HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved synopsis into a complete MFCP-005 report with your own fieldwork material, proper analysis, and a final annexure check before you send it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552
Why MFCP-005 proposals and reports come back
- Proforma not signed or dated by you or the guide
- Guide outside the eligibility conditions
- Topic too wide, or objectives that the methodology cannot answer
- Report that changes the topic, community or fieldwork area from the approved synopsis
- Approved synopsis or originality certificate missing from the report
- Copied literature review or theory
If your synopsis is not approved: read the comments, revise the synopsis and resubmit it with a fresh proforma as your guideline directs. Our mentors can rework a returned synopsis using the evaluator’s comments.
How HelpBooks mentors MAFCS learners
Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, their synopsis has come back once, or they have approval but do not know how to turn fieldwork material into a full report. Our mentors stay with you through the whole MFCP-005 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:
- 5–6 workable topic options based on your region, community and language, to discuss with your guide
- Synopsis drafted with you to the MFCP-005 format, with the proforma checked line by line before you submit it
- Help with revisions if the evaluator returns your synopsis
- After approval, support in building the full report on your approved synopsis, with original writing, your own fieldwork material and a plagiarism check
- A final check of the annexures, certificate and envelope before you send it
- Support until your result is declared, including any changes the evaluator asks for
