MESP-085 is the project work course of the IGNOU PG Diploma in Pre-Primary Education (PGDPPED), offered by the School of Education. Like other IGNOU projects, the work normally runs in two parts: first a project proposal that has to be approved, and then a project report based on that approved proposal. The credits, report length and submission details for your session are in the project handbook of your programme, so we have not quoted numbers here.

Who can be your MESP-085 guide?

IGNOU sets conditions on who can guide a project, such as qualification and years of experience, and they are written in your programme’s project handbook. We have not quoted them here because they differ between schools and sessions. A guide who does not meet the conditions is one of the common reasons a proposal is sent back. Before you ask someone to sign your proforma, share their qualifications and experience with our mentors and we will check them against the handbook.

Choosing an MESP-085 project topic

Too broad
“Early childhood education in India”
Approvable
“Use of play-based activities by teachers in anganwadi centres of one block”

A good MESP-085 topic is narrow, tied to pre-primary education, and possible for you to study with the time and contacts you have. Some areas that work well:

  • Play and activity-based learning: how teachers use play in preschool classes
  • Teacher practice: training needs or classroom practices of preschool teachers
  • Parents and community: parent involvement in early learning
  • School readiness: language or number readiness of children entering Class 1
  • Learning environment: use of space, materials and storytelling in a pre-primary class

If you work in a preschool or anganwadi, a topic linked to your own centre makes data collection far easier. This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics to a PGDPPED learner.

MESP-085 proposal format

Project proposals usually cover the parts below. Check your handbook for the exact headings and page limit:

  • Title
  • Introduction and rationale
  • Statement of the problem
  • Objectives
  • Review of literature
  • Methodology: sample, tools, data collection and analysis
  • Limitations
  • References

If the proposal is returned, you revise and resend it with the comments.

MESP-085 project report structure

After approval, the report is built on the same topic, objectives, sample and location that were approved. It normally covers:

  • Introduction
  • Review of literature
  • Methodology
  • Analysis and interpretation of data, with tables and charts each followed by its explanation
  • Findings, conclusion and suggestions
  • References
  • Annexures such as the questionnaire or observation schedule

The bound report also carries the approved proposal and the certificate asked for in the handbook. The handbook gives the exact list. When you collect data from young children, take the permission of the centre and of parents.

Got your approval? Let us help you finish the report.
HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved proposal into a complete MESP-085 report with your own field data, proper tables and interpretation, and a final annexure check before you post it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552

Why MESP-085 proposals and reports come back

  • Proposal not signed as the handbook requires
  • Guide outside the conditions in the handbook
  • Topic too wide, or not related to pre-primary education
  • Objectives that the methodology cannot answer
  • Report that changes the topic, sample or study area from the approved proposal
  • Approved proposal or certificate missing from the bound report
  • Copied literature review or theory
  • Report sent to the wrong office

If your proposal is not approved: revise it using the comments and resend it as the handbook directs. Our mentors can rework a returned proposal using the comments you received.

How HelpBooks mentors PGDPPED learners

Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, their proposal has come back once, or they have approval but do not know how to turn data into a full report. Our mentors stay with you through the whole MESP-085 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:

  • 5–6 workable topic options based on your job, centre and city, to discuss with your guide
  • Proposal drafted with you in the format your handbook asks for, checked line by line before you post it
  • Help with revisions if the evaluator returns your proposal
  • After approval, support in building the full report on your approved proposal, with original writing, your own field data and a plagiarism check
  • A final check of the annexures, certificate and envelope before you send it
  • Support until your result is declared, including any changes the evaluator asks for

Common questions

How many credits is MESP-085?
Check your PGDPPED programme guide. We have not quoted a figure because we could not confirm it from IGNOU’s published pages.

Can I choose a guide from my workplace?
Yes, if the person meets the guide conditions in your handbook. Share their details with us and we will check.

Is there a viva for MESP-085?
Check your programme guideline. Whatever the rule, know your own report well.

Can I collect data from my own centre?
Usually yes, with the permission of the head of the centre and the consent of parents and respondents, as long as it matches the sample in your approved proposal.

Can HelpBooks help if I have already started?
Yes. Many learners come to us after a returned proposal or with approval in hand. Share what you have, and we pick up from that stage.
