MESP-049 is the project work course of the IGNOU PG Diploma in Educational Management and Administration (PGDEMA), offered by the School of Education. It is a compulsory 6-credit course. The PGDEMA programme guide describes it as hands-on experience of the research process, in which you identify a research problem in educational management and administration, send a project proposal to your Regional Centre for formal approval, and then carry out the project.

Who can be your MESP-049 guide?

The PGDEMA programme guide does not list guide conditions and sends you to the project work handbook. Conditions on qualification and experience are written there, so follow the handbook. A guide who does not meet them is one of the common reasons a proposal is sent back. Before you ask someone to sign your proposal, share their qualifications and experience with our mentors and we will check them against the handbook.

Choosing an MESP-049 project topic

Too broad
“Problems of school management in India”
Approvable
“Role of school management committees in the functioning of government upper primary schools in one block”

A good MESP-049 topic is a clear research problem in educational management and administration that you can study with the time and contacts you have. Some areas that work well:

  • School leadership: decision-making and leadership styles of head teachers
  • Teacher management: job satisfaction, absenteeism or workload of teachers
  • School committees and community: working of school management committees or parent participation
  • Resources and planning: use of school grants, infrastructure or timetable planning
  • Supervision and monitoring: academic supervision and its effect on classroom practice

If you work in a school or education office, a topic linked to your own institution makes data collection far easier. This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics to a PGDEMA learner.

MESP-049 proposal format

Research proposals usually cover the parts below. Check your handbook for the exact headings and page limit:

  • Title
  • Introduction and rationale
  • Statement of the problem
  • Objectives
  • Review of literature
  • Methodology: sample, tools, data collection and analysis
  • Limitations
  • References

If the proposal is returned, you revise and resend it with the comments.

MESP-049 project report structure

After approval, the report is built on the same problem, objectives, sample and location that were approved. It normally covers:

  • Introduction
  • Review of literature
  • Methodology
  • Analysis and interpretation of data, with tables and charts each followed by its explanation
  • Findings, conclusion and suggestions
  • References
  • Annexures such as the questionnaire

The bound report also carries the approved proposal and the certificate asked for in the handbook. The handbook gives the exact list.

HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved proposal into a complete MESP-049 report with your own field data, proper tables and interpretation, and a final annexure check before you post it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552

Why MESP-049 proposals and reports come back

  • Proposal not signed as the handbook requires
  • Guide outside the conditions in the handbook
  • Problem too wide, or not related to educational management and administration
  • Objectives that the methodology cannot answer
  • Report that changes the problem, sample or study area from the approved proposal
  • Approved proposal or certificate missing from the bound report
  • Copied literature review or theory
  • Report sent to the wrong office

If your proposal is not approved: revise it using the comments and resend it as the handbook directs. Our mentors can rework a returned proposal using the comments you received.

How HelpBooks mentors PGDEMA learners

Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a research problem, their proposal has come back once, or they have approval but do not know how to turn data into a full report. Our mentors stay with you through the whole MESP-049 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:

  • 5–6 workable topic options based on your job, institution and city, to discuss with your guide
  • Proposal drafted with you in the format your handbook asks for, checked line by line before you post it
  • Help with revisions if your Regional Centre returns your proposal
  • After approval, support in building the full report on your approved proposal, with original writing, your own field data and a plagiarism check
  • A final check of the annexures, certificate and envelope before you send it
  • Support until your result is declared, including any changes the evaluator asks for
