MES-105 is the project work course of the IGNOU PG Diploma in Higher Education (PGDHE), offered by the School of Education. IGNOU lists it as a 6-credit course in the first year of the programme, which has a minimum duration of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months. Like other IGNOU projects, the work runs in two parts: first a project proposal that has to be approved, and then a project report based on that approved proposal.

Who can be your MES-105 guide?

IGNOU sets conditions on who can guide a project, such as qualification and years of experience, and they are written in your programme’s project guideline. We have not quoted them here because they differ between schools and sessions. A guide who does not meet the conditions is one of the common reasons a proposal is sent back. Before you ask someone to sign your proforma, share their qualifications and experience with our mentors and we will check them against the guideline.

Choosing an MES-105 project topic

Too broad
“Problems of higher education in India”
Approvable
“Students’ perception of online teaching in undergraduate colleges of one district”

A good MES-105 topic is narrow, tied to higher education, and possible for you to study with the time and contacts you have. Some areas that work well:

  • Teaching and learning: use of digital tools or active methods by college teachers
  • Student experience: satisfaction, attendance or stress among undergraduate or postgraduate students
  • Faculty: job satisfaction, workload or professional development of college teachers
  • Assessment: teachers’ and students’ views on internal assessment or examinations
  • Policy in practice: awareness of a higher education policy among teachers in your college

If you are working in a college or university, a topic linked to your own institution makes data collection far easier. This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics to a PGDHE learner.

MES-105 proposal format

IGNOU project proposals usually cover the parts below. Check your guideline for the exact headings and page limit:

  • Title
  • Introduction and rationale
  • Statement of the problem
  • Objectives
  • Review of literature
  • Methodology: sample, tools, data collection and analysis
  • Limitations
  • References

The proposal goes with the proforma signed and dated by you and your guide. If the evaluator returns it, you revise and resend with the comments.

MES-105 project report structure

After approval, the report is built on the same topic, objectives, sample and location that were approved. It normally covers:

  • Introduction
  • Review of literature
  • Methodology
  • Analysis and interpretation of data, with tables and charts each followed by its explanation
  • Findings, conclusion and suggestions
  • References
  • Annexures such as the questionnaire

The bound report also carries the approved proposal and the originality certificate signed by you and your guide. Your guideline gives the exact list.

HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved proposal into a complete MES-105 report with your own field data, proper tables and interpretation, and a final annexure check before you post it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552

Why MES-105 proposals and reports come back

  • Proforma not signed or dated by the student and the guide
  • Guide outside the eligibility conditions
  • Topic too wide, or not related to higher education
  • Objectives that the methodology cannot answer
  • Report that changes the topic, sample or study area from the approved proposal
  • Approved proposal or originality certificate missing from the bound report
  • Copied literature review or theory
  • Report sent to the wrong office

If your proposal is not approved: send a revised proposal as your guideline directs, with the evaluator’s comments and your proposal number. Our mentors can rework a returned proposal using the evaluator’s comments.

How HelpBooks mentors PGDHE learners

Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, their proposal has come back once, or they have approval but do not know how to turn data into a full report. Our mentors stay with you through the whole MES-105 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:

  • 5–6 workable topic options based on your job, institution and city, to discuss with your guide
  • Proposal drafted with you in the format your guideline asks for, with the proforma checked line by line before you post it
  • Help with revisions if the evaluator returns your proposal
  • After approval, support in building the full report on your approved proposal, with original writing, your own field data and a plagiarism check
  • A final check of the annexures, certificate and envelope before you send it
  • Support until your result is declared, including any changes the evaluator asks for
