MEDSP-071 is the project work course of the IGNOU MA Population and Family Health Studies (MAPFHS) programme. IGNOU lists it as an 8-credit course in the second year of the programme. Like other IGNOU projects, it runs in two parts: first a project proposal that has to be approved, and then a project report based on that approved proposal.

Who can be your MEDSP-071 guide?

IGNOU sets conditions on who can guide a project, such as qualification and years of experience, and they are written in your programme’s project handbook. We have not quoted them here because they differ between schools and sessions. A guide who does not meet the conditions is one of the common reasons a proposal is sent back. Before you ask someone to sign your proforma, share their qualifications and experience with our mentors and we will check them against the handbook.

Choosing an MEDSP-071 project topic

Too broad
“Family planning in India”
Approvable
“Awareness and use of spacing methods of contraception among married women aged 20–35 years in two villages of one block”

A good MEDSP-071 topic is narrow, tied to population or family health, and possible for you to study with the time and contacts you have. Some areas that work well:

  • Reproductive and maternal health: antenatal care use, institutional delivery, postnatal care
  • Family planning: awareness and use of methods among couples in your area
  • Child health: immunisation coverage or nutrition of children under five
  • Adolescent health: knowledge of menstrual hygiene or reproductive health among school students
  • Ageing and population: health and care needs of older people in a ward or village

If you are working, a topic linked to your own organisation or area makes data collection far easier. This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics to a MAPFHS learner.

MEDSP-071 proposal format

IGNOU project proposals usually cover the parts below. Check your handbook for the exact headings and page limit:

  • Title
  • Introduction and rationale
  • Objectives
  • Review of literature
  • Research methodology: locale, sample, tools, data collection and analysis
  • Limitations
  • References

The proposal goes with the proforma signed and dated by you and your guide. If the evaluator returns it, you revise and resend with the comments.

MEDSP-071 project report structure

After approval, the report is built on the same topic, objectives, sample and location that were approved. It normally covers:

  • Introduction
  • Review of literature
  • Research methodology
  • Results and discussion, with tables and charts each followed by its interpretation
  • Conclusion, limitations and suggestions
  • References
  • Annexures such as the questionnaire or interview schedule

The bound report also carries the approved proposal and the originality certificate signed by you and your guide. Your handbook gives the exact list.

Got your approval? Let us help you finish the report.
HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved proposal into a complete MEDSP-071 report with your own field data, proper tables and interpretation, and a final annexure check before you post it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552

Why MEDSP-071 proposals and reports come back

  • Proforma not signed or dated by the student and the guide
  • Guide outside the eligibility conditions
  • Topic too wide, or not related to population or family health
  • Objectives that the methodology cannot answer
  • Report that changes the topic, sample or study area from the approved proposal
  • Approved proposal or originality certificate missing from the bound report
  • Copied literature review or theory
  • Report sent to the wrong office

If your proposal is not approved: send a revised proposal as your handbook directs, with the evaluator’s comments and your proposal number. Our mentors can rework a returned proposal using the evaluator’s comments.

How HelpBooks mentors MAPFHS learners

Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, their proposal has come back once, or they have approval but do not know how to turn field data into a full report. Our mentors stay with you through the whole MEDSP-071 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:

  • 5–6 workable topic options based on your job, organisation and area, to discuss with your guide
  • Proposal drafted with you in the format your handbook asks for, with the proforma checked line by line before you post it
  • Help with revisions if the evaluator returns your proposal
  • After approval, support in building the full report on your approved proposal, with original writing, your own field data and a plagiarism check
  • A final check of the annexures, certificate and envelope before you send it
  • Support until your result is declared, including any changes the evaluator asks for
