IGNOU MBA Agribusiness Project (MAMP-060): Guidelines, Synopsis Format, Guide Eligibility and Submission

MAMP-060 is the Project Work course of the IGNOU MBA (Agribusiness Management) programme, MBAABM. IGNOU lists it as a four-credit course in the fourth semester. The course asks you to apply what you learned to a real agribusiness problem through an in-depth research or practical project, analyse it, and present findings and recommendations. In practice this means a synopsis first, and a project report after the synopsis is approved.

Choosing an MBA Agribusiness project topic

A good MAMP-060 topic is a real agribusiness problem, narrow, and possible for you to study with the time and contacts you have. Some areas that work well:

• Supply chain and marketing: mandi and market channels, cold chain, branding of farm products
• Agri finance: farm credit, crop insurance awareness, FPO funding
• Farmer producer organisations: working, membership and market linkages of an FPO
• Agri inputs and retail: customer satisfaction with seed, fertiliser or equipment dealers
• Agri start-ups and agri-tech: adoption of digital platforms by farmers

If you work in an agri company, bank, cooperative or FPO, a topic linked to it makes data collection far easier.

MAMP-060 synopsis format

Your MBAABM guideline gives the prescribed synopsis format and proforma. IGNOU management synopses, including the sister PGDAB course, usually follow this order, so use it as a working outline until you check your own booklet:

• Introduction and rationale of the study
• Objectives, written neutrally and not assuming the result
• Research methodology: design, source of data, sample and sampling technique, tools, data collection and statistical tools
• Limitations, if any

The proforma is signed and dated by you and your guide. A synopsis that is incomplete or unsigned is the most common reason for it to come back.

MAMP-060 project report structure

After approval, the report is built on the same topic, objectives, sample and location that were approved. A typical agribusiness project report runs through:

• Introduction and review of literature
• Research methodology
• Results and discussion, with tables or charts and their interpretation
• Summary and conclusion
• Recommendations and limitations
• References and annexures such as the questionnaire

Check your guideline for the page limit and for what must be bound in with the report, such as the approved synopsis and the originality certificate. Do not send the report without them.

Why MAMP-060 proposals and reports come back

• Proforma not signed or dated by the student or the guide
• Guide outside the eligibility conditions
• Topic too wide, or not about a real agribusiness problem
• Objectives that the methodology cannot answer
• Report that changes the topic, sample or study area from the approved synopsis
• Approved synopsis or originality certificate missing from the report
• Copied literature review or theory
