MAMP-058 is the Project Work course of the IGNOU Postgraduate Diploma in Agribusiness (PGDAB). It is a compulsory, four-credit course. It is practical and activity based, and IGNOU provides no study material for it. The work runs in two parts: first a synopsis (project proposal) that the Regional Centre must approve, and then the project report based on that approved synopsis.

Who can be your MAMP-058 guide?

IGNOU facultyFaculty of the School of Agriculture or other relevant disciplines at IGNOU headquarters
Academic counsellorApproved counsellor of the Agribusiness or a similar programme with 5 years of teaching experience
ProfessionalMaster’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Dairy Technology or an allied discipline, with at least 5 years of experience in the area

You identify the guide yourself. Spouses, direct relatives and blood relations cannot be your guide. If you change your guide for any reason, a new proposal with the new guide’s signature is needed. A guide who does not meet these conditions is a common reason for a proposal to come back.

Choosing a PGDAB project topic

Too broad
“A study of Indian agriculture”
Approvable
“Marketing channels and farmer income in dairy cooperatives of Anand district”

The guideline lets you choose any agribusiness topic. It lists examples only as a guide, and you may go beyond them with your guide’s advice. Some areas that work well:

  • Dairy and poultry: milk procurement, cooperative marketing, poultry farm economics
  • Fisheries: fish marketing channels and cold chain problems in your district
  • Agricultural finance: NABARD or bank credit and its use by farmers
  • Organic produce: marketing and certification of organic products
  • Government schemes: implementation of a farm scheme in your block, or a market survey of an agri product

If you work in an agri firm, bank, cooperative or farm, a topic linked to it makes data collection far easier. This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics to a PGDAB learner.

MAMP-058 synopsis format

The synopsis has five parts:

  • Introduction: brief background on the chosen subject
  • Rationale: why you chose the topic
  • Objectives: clear, precise and neutral, without implying the finding, for example “To study…” or “To analyse the factors affecting…”
  • Research methodology: research design, nature and source of data, sample, sampling technique and size, data collection method and period, tools and statistical techniques
  • Research limitations, if any

With the synopsis you attach the proforma, signed and dated by you and your guide, and the guide’s bio-data signed in original (name and date of birth, addresses and phone numbers, qualifications with year and percentage, work experience in order, and other eligibility details). Send one copy to the Regional Director. A proposal that is incomplete in any respect is not accepted.

MAMP-058 project report structure

After approval, the report is built on the same topic, objectives, sample and location that were approved. The guideline lists these chapters:

  • Introduction and review of literature, with details of the organisation studied, rationale, problem statement, objectives and scope
  • Research methodology, including reliability and validity of tools and statistical tools
  • Results and discussion, in tables or graphs with interpretation
  • Summary and conclusion
  • Recommendations
  • Limitations and directions for further research
  • References or bibliography
  • Annexures, such as the questionnaire

The bound report must also include a cover page, a detailed table of contents with page numbers, the approved proposal (proposal, approved proforma and guide bio-data, bound in and not stapled) and the originality certificate signed and dated by you and your guide. Reports are not returned after evaluation, so keep your own copy.

Got your approval? Let us help you finish the report.
HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved synopsis into a complete MAMP-058 report with your own study-area data, proper tables and interpretation, and a final annexure check before you post it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552

Why MAMP-058 proposals and reports come back

  • Proposal incomplete in any respect
  • Proforma not signed or dated by the student or the guide
  • Guide outside the eligibility list, or a relative acting as guide
  • Change of guide without a fresh proposal
  • Objectives that already assume the result
  • Approved proposal stapled instead of bound into the report
  • Proposal, proforma, guide bio-data or originality certificate missing from the report
  • Report that changes the topic, sample or study area from the approved synopsis

If your synopsis is not approved: send a revised synopsis, a copy of the rejected proposal, the proforma with the evaluator’s comments and your original proposal number. If only the guide was not approved, choose an eligible guide and submit a new proposal. Our mentors can rework a returned synopsis using the evaluator’s comments.

How HelpBooks mentors PGDAB learners

Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, their synopsis has come back once, or they have approval but do not know how to turn data into a 40–60 page report. Our mentors stay with you through the whole MAMP-058 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:

  • 5–6 workable topic options based on your job, farm connection and district, to discuss with your guide
  • Synopsis drafted with you to the MAMP-058 format, with the proforma and bio-data checked line by line before you post it
  • Help with revisions if the evaluator returns your synopsis
  • After approval, support in building the full report on your approved synopsis, with original writing, your own study-area data and a plagiarism check
  • A final check of the annexures, certificate and envelope before you send it to the Regional Centre
  • Support until your result is declared, including any changes the evaluator asks for

Common questions

Is MAMP-058 compulsory?
Yes, it is the compulsory Project Work course of the PGDAB programme and carries 4 credits.

Can I do an internship report instead of a dissertation?
The guideline allows a dissertation, an internship report, or a report on a field survey, field study, market survey or industry visit. Agree the type with your guide before writing the synopsis.

How long does synopsis approval take?
The guideline says written communication follows within two to three months of receipt. Keep a copy of everything you post.

Is there a viva for MAMP-058?
The guidelines and programme guide do not mention a viva. Know your own report well either way.

Can HelpBooks help if I have already started?
Yes. Many learners come to us after a returned synopsis or with approval in hand. Share what you have, and we pick up from that stage.
