Our project mentors have worked with language and humanities learners on IGNOU synopses and projects. You get one team that stays with you through every stage:
- Topic options from the approved areas, chosen to suit your reading and sources
- Synopsis drafted with you, ready for approval by the Arabic faculty or counsellor
- Full project support on the approved synopsis, original and plagiarism-checked
- Help with revisions until your result is declared
MALP-004 is Project-1 of the IGNOU MA Arabic programme (MAARB), run by the School of Foreign Languages. The project carries 100 marks and tests how well you can collect reading material on an Arabic topic, then analyse and evaluate it. It is a library and desk-based project, not a field survey. The steps are short: choose a topic, get your synopsis approved, write the project, and submit it.

Figures are based on the MALP-004 project instructions for the 2025-26 session. The booklet does not state credits, a viva or fixed dates, and dates are announced on the IGNOU homepage. IGNOU revises its guidelines from time to time, so check the latest copy before you begin.
Who approves your MALP-004 synopsis?
The MALP-004 instructions do not name a guide or set guide eligibility conditions. What they require is approval of your synopsis, and this comes from one of two sources:
A screenshot of the approval email goes in with your project. If you want a subject expert to read your draft before you submit, HelpBooks mentors can do that, but the approval that counts is the one above.
Choosing a MALP-004 topic
“Arabic language”
A single sub-topic from your official list, narrowed to one aspect you can cover well in 25 pages
The instructions say to select only one of the listed sub-topics, not a main head. The main areas for MALP-004 are:
- Arabic Grammar and Linguistics: pick a grammar or language point from the list and treat it with examples
- Modern Arab Culture: a cultural topic from the list, with sources in Arabic or English
- Modern Methods of Arabic Teaching: a teaching method from the list, with a clear discussion of how it works
- Contemporary Arab World: a political, social or cultural topic from the list
Choose the topic for which you can find enough reliable sources. This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics to an MA Arabic learner.
MALP-004 synopsis format
The instructions do not lay down a fixed synopsis format. They only say the synopsis must be approved by the Arabic faculty of SOFL or by MA Arabic academic counsellors. Until you confirm what your approver expects, a short synopsis that covers these points is a safe working outline:
- Title, which is your chosen sub-topic
- Introduction to the topic and why it matters
- Aim of the project
- Main headings you plan to cover
- Main sources you will use
MALP-004 project structure
The instructions fix only the cover page and the source list; the internal chapters are left to you. A reader-friendly project of 25 pages usually runs through:
- Introduction to the topic
- Main discussion in a few headed sections
- Analysis and evaluation of what the sources say
- Conclusion
- List of all important sources consulted, online and print
Copying directly from any source, online or printed, is strictly prohibited. Keep a copy of the project in case the submitted one is lost. Hard copies go to the Registrar, Students Evaluation Division (Project Section), Block-12, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi – 110068, and soft copies are uploaded through the link on the IGNOU homepage.
HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved synopsis into a complete MALP-004 project in your own words, with a clean cover page, source list and a final check before you submit. WhatsApp us on 8800002552
Why MALP-004 projects come back
- Main head chosen instead of a listed sub-topic
- Synopsis not approved by the Arabic faculty or counsellor
- Screenshot of the approval email missing
- Project shorter than 5000 words or 25 pages
- Cover page details missing or placed wrongly
- No list of sources at the end
- Content copied from online or printed sources
- Project not submitted before the term-end exams
If your synopsis is not approved: revise it as per the comments of the faculty member or counsellor and ask again. Our mentors can rework a returned synopsis using the comments you received.
How HelpBooks mentors MA Arabic learners
Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a sub-topic, their synopsis has not been approved yet, or they have approval but do not know how to turn their reading into a 25-page project. Our mentors stay with you through the whole MALP-004 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:
- 5–6 workable topic options from your official list, matched to the sources you can find
- Synopsis drafted with you, ready to send to the faculty member or counsellor
- Help with revisions if the synopsis is returned
- After approval, support in building the full project with original writing, proper source listing and a plagiarism check
- A final check of the cover page, approval screenshot and submission method
- Support until your result is declared, including any changes IGNOU asks for
