BMPP-001 is the project course of the IGNOU BBA programme. It carries 8 credits and sits in the fifth semester, although you can start preparing the synopsis from the fourth semester. The work runs in two parts: first a synopsis (project proposal) that IGNOU must approve, and then a full project report built on that approved synopsis.

Who can be your BMPP-001 guide?

IGNOU facultyCommerce and management faculty of the School of Management Studies, IGNOU headquarters
Academic counsellorApproved counsellor of the BBA, B.Com, M.Com or MBA programmes with at least 5 years of teaching or counselling experience
Teacher or professionalCommerce or management teacher with 5 years of UG/PG teaching, a CA, CS, ICWA or engineer with 5 years of experience, or an M.Com/MBA holder with 5 years of professional experience

You choose the guide yourself, and the guide’s signed bio-data goes with your synopsis. A guide may supervise no more than five students at a time. A guide who does not meet these conditions is a common reason for a proposal to come back.

Choosing a BBA project topic

Too broad
“A study of marketing in India”
Approvable
“Impact of social media advertising on the buying behaviour of young consumers in Jaipur”

A good BMPP-001 topic is narrow, linked to business, and possible for you to study with the time and contacts you have. Some areas that work well:

  • Marketing: brand preference, customer satisfaction or online shopping behaviour in your city
  • Human resources: job satisfaction, employee retention or training effectiveness in one organisation
  • Finance: investor awareness of mutual funds, or working capital practices of a small firm
  • Accounting and taxation: GST compliance problems of small traders
  • Emerging areas: digital payments among retailers, start-up funding, e-commerce logistics

If you are working, a topic linked to your own organisation or city makes data collection far easier. This is also the first thing our mentors look at when they suggest topics to a BBA learner.

BMPP-001 synopsis format

The synopsis covers these parts:

  • Introduction
  • Rationale of the study
  • Review of literature
  • Objectives, which should be neutral and not assume a finding, for example “To examine…” or “To analyse…”
  • Research methodology: research design, nature and source of data, sample and sampling technique, tools and data collection methods, and statistical tools
  • Implications of the study
  • Limitations, if any

With the synopsis you attach the proforma for approval of the project proposal, signed and dated by both you and your guide, and the guide’s bio-data signed in original. The Regional Centre allots a Project Proposal (PP) number. A synopsis that is incomplete in any way, or that has no complete signed bio-data, is not considered.

BMPP-001 project report structure

After approval, the report is built on the same topic, objectives, sample and location that were approved. It normally covers:

  • Introduction
  • Review of literature
  • Research methodology, including the questionnaire, reliability and validity of tools, data collection and statistical tools
  • Results and discussion
  • Summary and conclusion
  • Recommendations
  • Implications
  • Limitations and, if you wish, directions for future research
  • References in APA style
  • Annexures, such as the questionnaire

The bound report must also include a cover page, a detailed table of contents with page numbers, the approved proposal (proposal, approved proforma and guide bio-data, bound in and not stapled), the originality certificate signed and dated by you and your guide, and the receipt of the project evaluation fee. Submit one original copy on A4, typed double-spaced and bound. Reports are not returned after evaluation.

Got your approval? Let us help you finish the report.
HelpBooks mentors help you turn your approved synopsis into a complete BMPP-001 report with your own study-area data, proper tables and interpretation, and a final annexure check before you post it. WhatsApp us on 8800002552

Why BMPP-001 proposals and reports come back

  • Proforma or guide bio-data missing, unsigned or undated
  • Synopsis incomplete in any part
  • Guide not approved, or outside the eligibility list
  • Objectives that already assume the result
  • Report that changes the topic, sample or study area from the approved synopsis
  • Approved proposal stapled instead of bound in, or originality certificate or fee receipt missing
  • Copied or plagiarised content
  • Report sent to the regional centre instead of the Registrar (SED)

If your synopsis is not approved: send a revised synopsis with a fresh proforma, a copy of the rejected synopsis with the evaluator’s comments, and your PP number. A change of guide needs a new proposal. Our mentors can rework a returned synopsis using the evaluator’s comments.

How HelpBooks mentors BBA learners

Most learners who reach us have one of three problems: they cannot settle on a topic, their synopsis has come back once, or they have approval but do not know how to turn data into a 60–80 page report. Our mentors stay with you through the whole BMPP-001 journey, from the first topic list to the day your marks appear:

  • 5–6 workable topic options based on your job, organisation and city, to discuss with your guide
  • Synopsis drafted with you to the BMPP-001 format, with the proforma and bio-data checked line by line before you post it
  • Help with revisions if the evaluator returns your synopsis
  • After approval, support in building the full report on your approved synopsis, with original writing, your own study-area data and a plagiarism check
  • A final check of the annexures, certificate and envelope before you send it to the Registrar (SED)
  • Support until your result is declared, including any changes the evaluator asks for
